Highways are today the most used way of communication. An efficient management of highway traffic is an essential element to ensure the safety of  the commuters.

The objective on a highway or a tunnel is to allow the detection of events regarded as abnormal.

The use of CCTV coupled with automatic incident detection (AID) image analysis will make possible to inform the central office of an incident such as:

• - A vehicle riding against the traffic
• - A stop on the hard shoulder
• - Traffic’s slowdown, traffic jam
• - License plate reading
